Mario Carranza graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor on Spanish Studies at the University of Zaragoza (Spain), after one-year Erasmus Scholarship at the University of Padova (Italy). In 2004, he graduated on Spanish Studies at Barcelona Autonomous University (Spain) and started lecturing Spanish as an Associate Professor at the same institution.
From 2005 to 2007, Mario Carranza was granted the MEXT Scholarship for international graduated students and moved to the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (Japan), where he followed a research on acquisition of Spanish pronunciation by Japanese speakers. He returned to Spain in 2007 and lectured at the Barcelona Autonomous University until September 2009 and received there a Master on Multilingual Communication and Natural Language Processing in September 2008. From April 2010 to Mars 2012, he taught Spanish pronunciation and Spanish phonetics at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, while starting his PhD on Computer Assisted Pronunciation Teaching.
